Lessons learned ch 5

They sat there for what seemed hours just in the quiet of the house. He was content to let her stay there in the confines on his arms for as long as she needed to be comfortable there. He was beginning to see a future finally that he could be happy with. A small family in the house. He could see this being a place he wanted to be instead of laying in bed dreaming of something he didn’t think he could have.

He nuzzled his face in her hair. She reciprocated by nuzzling deeper into his shoulder. She took a deep breath in. Noelle was resting after the night from hell that turned into a night of promise. “I missed this.” Noelle said softly.

“What?” He asked breaking the silence that had blanketed the pair.

“Being close to someone.” She said, “people either turned their back on me or were so judgmental if they found out. I missed being around someone when I was alone. I enjoyed being at work for that reason. You never treated me anything other then a normal person.”

“That’s because you are a normal person Noelle.” Mitsuhide said.

“I am far from normal Mitsuhide. I wouldn’t know you though if it wasn’t for him.” She replied chuckling slightly.

“Why is that, love?” He asked.

“I wouldn’t need a job if it hadn’t been for him. I would have never looked at the list that led me to you.” She said.

“Well then this guy is my lucky charm because I think right now I am pretty much getting everything I ever wanted.” He smiled. “Now did you eat?”

“I wasn’t thinking about food.” She said, “I was so tired from work I was laying down.”

“Then what do you want?” He asked as he fished out his phone.

“I’m Fine Mitsuhide.” She said trying to sit more up.

“No.” He said as he narrowed his eyes at her, “you have to eat Noelle. This guy needs you to and I need you healthy.”

“You are going to be a pain about this aren’t you?” She laughed.

“Yes. I am.” Mitsuhide said as he looked into her eyes, “I can’t cook but if I have too I will hire one.”

“I can cook Mitsuhide.” She smiled, “ I just don’t often have enough to cook.”

“Well my dear you will have whatever you wish from now on. That is a simple promise.” He smiled at her. “Tomorrow we will go shopping as well for some clothes and food as well as your new bed. We will also start to get some things for him.” Mitsuhide pat her stomach again. “Have you thought of a name for him?”

“No. Mitsuhide I wasn’t even sure I would be keeping him I didn’t want to name him or really bond with him.” Noelle said as she rubbed her stomach.

“And now?” Mitsuhide asked as his eyes held a certain gleam.

“Now I can see a chance to really be happy.” Noelle said as she smiled as looked down at herself. “I had to think of so much other than him. Now I can try to focus on him.”

“I hope not just him.” Mitsuhide said softly.

“No not just him.” Noelle said with a smile.

“Good girl.” Mitsuhide said. “We are in no rush but I don’t want you to forget about me either.”

“I don’t think I could forget you.” Noelle said as she moved closer to him. He liked the look in her eyes.

“Is it possible you hid something from me, my dear?” He asked in a deep baritone that went through her.

“I didn’t hide anything from you.” She smiled, “I am allowed to have a crush without telling the crush.”

“A crush huh?” He whispered, “I had much more then a crush on you.”

“Oh really?” She said as he pulled her close to him.

“Really.” He said as his lips found hers again.

“This might not be the worst night ever.” She smiled at him.

“You scared years off my life, you know.” Mitsuhide said as he rubbed her back when the doorbell went off and echoed through the house. “Food.”

“What did you order?” She asked as she followed him and when he opened the door there was someone standing there with eight bags.

“Everything.” He replied.

“Mitsuhide!” She exclaimed.

“What?” He asked as he took the bags.

“Why did you order so much?” She asked.

“You are pregnant who knows what you like today.” He said.

“I see how it is going to be.” She said softly.

“You need someone to watch out for you.” He said as he kissed her temple. “Now dig in.”

“How are you still single?” She asked.

“I was waiting for the right person.” He smiled as he reached into the bag and began to pull box after box out.

“Just for future reference this is how you are going to be?” Noelle asked as she was giggling.

“How I am going to be?” He asked as he looked at her.

“Extra.” She replied as she sat and started to eat.

“Maybe.” He shrugged his shoulders as he sat down to join her.

They ate in relative peace. She wondered how something so horrible could turn into a blessing for her. This man wanted to be with her even though she was having a child by an unknown person. He wanted to step in and claim her child as well all because it was her child. He wanted to give her a home and whatever she wanted. All because of a fire in her horrible apartment. He was everything she needed. Everything she wanted. She had learned much about the man as she had worked for him. Though he was demanding in his classes he was caring outside of them. He had a shell around him that kept even the other professors away at times. His quick wit and sarcastic tongue made him seem a lot worse than he really was. When they were alone he would temper his tone with her though she rarely made a mistake he would explain the reason it was wrong instead of belittling her as some instructors were she had heard. He was concerned for her from the beginning even before he knew she was pregnant. She could sit back and think now about the future instead of trying to make it through the present. She knew he was a man of his word. This wasn’t some phase. He was going to complete this make shift family and keep it together.

“You’re quiet.” Mitsuhide said breaking the silence.

“Just thinking.” She replied.

“Can I inquire about what?” He asked.

“Everything Mitsuhide. Just everything.” She said as she smiled and he was sure he lost his heart in That moment.

“That is a lot to think about.” He chuckled.

“A few hours ago I was in my cramped one bedroom apartment thinking how I was going to get through the next few months. What was going to happen in my life and what to do about him. Then the fire broke out. I thought I lost everything but I really gained everything Mitsuhide. You came for me. You fixed my brain and all the screaming how I failed. I can sit here now and relax. I am not alone anymore. Someone wants to be here with me. I have to tell you the idea of all of this by myself was overwhelming and scary. It doesn’t seem so scary right now.”

“Good. That is a first step.” Mitsuhide said with his signature grin.

“Just a first step?” She asked surprised.

“Oh yes.” He said as he stood and reached out his hand to her, “come with me.”

She placed her hand in his and he helped her up and led her up the stairs to a loft area that was centered in the middle of three bedrooms. He opened the door to the first room which was empty and she walked in. “If you want this room you can have it or any of them.” Mitsuhide said. As he pulled her to the next room which was on the other side of the loft area. “This one gets sun during the day and is bright but is the darkest at night. This could be his room.”

She walked deeper i to the room and looked around.

“I think this room is bigger than the apartment.” She said in awe. He was propped on the door jam watching her.

“I wanted to invite you to stay the first time you came here, you know.” Mitsuhide said softly.

“You did?” Noelle asked as she refocused on him.

“I did.” He said as he moved to hold her from behind as she faced back to the walls and everything else. “Noelle you have no idea how the interaction with you changed me. I started wanting things I figured I couldn’t have.”

“Like what?” Noelle asked as she turned in his arms.

“You.” He responded softly. “I wanted you.” She smiled up at him with a slight blush in her cheeks. “You must be tired, my dear.”

“A little.” She said. “My muscles are not as tight.”

“I will show you where you can take a shower to relax more and I will get you something to wear.” He said. “The first room I showed you has a bathroom attached.”

“Mitsuhide.” She said.

“What?” He asked as he stopped on the stairs.

“Nothing.” She said quickly almost ashamed she was going to be so forward.

“What sweetheart? You know you can say anything to me.” Mitsuhide said as he brushed her hair off her face.

“I was going to say something stupid. Forget it.” She said.

“Now I really want to know.” He smirked.

“Fine. I was going to suggest maybe we didn’t have to set up two rooms.” She said as her blush grew.

“What you want the baby to sleep with you?” He asked.

“Not the baby, Mitsuhide.” Noelle said softly. His eyes widened slightly and then softened.

“Noelle.” He said as he looked at her. He couldn’t break the contact with her eyes. He brought his mouth crushing down onto hers. “I want you have no doubt about that but the question is do you want me or do you feel grateful right now. I don’t want you to be grateful to me. I want you to want me as I do you.”

“Mitsuhide I do want you too. You are the only one who saw me and not the screw up. You are the only one who wants me for just being me. You not only accepted the fact I’m pregnant you were the only one who cared for me. I am grateful to you but not in the way you think. I am grateful I have someone who will help me with my no I mean our son. I want to try to be a normal family Mitsuhide. This isn’t a normal start to one but why prolong us dating or the courtship period. We don’t have to have sex I mean I am only going to get bigger but we can be together.” Noelle said softly.

“You think your size matters? God woman you are insane.” He said as without giving her time to react he bent down and picked her up in his arms and he carried her into the master bedroom. “We are not going to make love tonight but if you want to try this we can. The reason has nothing to do with your size either, that has to be the most asinine thing I have ever heard. It is more we need to get to know each other in this new capacity better. Time is on our side, my love. You need to hop that butt into there and strip. Take a long warm shower and the. I will rub your back.”

“Fine.” She smiled at him. As she closed the door he smiled as he looked up and thanks the invisible deity that blessed him with this perfectly imperfect woman.

Beginning again ch 2

The days ticked by and soon she found her place within the group. After weeks of agonizing meetings with everyone as the building was made completely operational she noticed that when one would approach her others would back away. She knew they knew her secret then but it didn’t matter all that much. She could ease into her days better. The freedom of being virtually invisible was there. She saw the looks when she was having a bad day. They were figuring out out to deal with her on their own terms and she was surprisingly letting them. She knew she did have to work with them.

“Which one of you told?” She said one day as she walked in the smaller conference room. Four members of her original team were sitting there eating as they were apt to do most of the time.

“What do you mean?” Aaron asked as he looked her over. She had put on some much needed weight in the past month. The guys all took notice that she was eating again. She wasn’t so nervous walking out of the building. She was coming back to herself. She may never be back all the way but it was a relief to see her and the light behind her eyes again.

“Which one of you told the rest of them about my past?” She said as she sat down.

“I did, sweetheart. They needed to know.” Aaron said.

“Why did they need to know?” She asked as she tilted her head.

“Because we didn’t want to see you regress. You had made leaps and bounds in Progress before coming here. That first meeting was painful to watch you and You caught all their eyes. I told them to keep them at bay so they wouldn’t push you into something you aren’t ready for. I left out the details of course, but they did need to know.” Aaron said as he looked her in the eyes. The two had a special bond that went far beyond friendship. She had taken a bullet meant for him that would have been fatal if it had reached the intended target. Instead she pushed him out of the way and it had gone through her shoulder. It was just another scar to her but it sealed the fate of the two people. He had seen her that day. He was the one who argued with the doctors to keep her alive. He couldn’t live without her.

He was the one who turned and walked out of the hospital when she was finally stable enough and gave the one who did this the thrashing of a lifetime. Aaron still wished he had finished the job. He would have gladly killed the other man if she would be spared from the rest of what she went through.

“I guess you are right.” She said with a sigh as she leaned over and placed her head on his shoulder. “Next time just tell me as well.”

“Has anyone said anything to you?” He asked softly. She had shied away from human touch for so long it was a relief to have her this close.

“No.” She simply said. “Everyone seems to be considerate enough not to bring it up but it was just there being so out in the open.”

“I should have told you.” Aaron said still soft and unlike him.

“I think I am getting better.” She said.

“You are.” He replied, “just like I said you would.”

“Aaron I can’t thank you enough.” She said soft so only he could hear her. With that he dared to move his arm slowly around her sides and gave her the first hug she received in five years from a male or from anyone really.

“Thank you sweetheart.” He said equally as soft in her ear.

“For what?” She asked.

“Coming back to us.” He whispered. “Come on we have to get to the meeting.”

For some reason the hair on the back of her neck rose. Instantly she knew something was going to happen. She wanted to hide again and she didn’t know why. She looked up i to Aarons’s face and he saw the flashes of fear in them.

“What?” He asked.

“Something isn’t right.” She said shaking her head trying to get the building adrenaline to stop flowing through her veins.

“What do you mean?” He asked.

“I don’t know but something is just not right.” She said.

“You’re safe here.” He said quickly, “no one can hurt you here. Even if they got past me and bear do you think the other guys would let something happen to you?”

“No.” She said as she started to calm down. She knew what he said was true. Here she was safe. Though the others didn’t know her well like these guys they did try to stay within her boundaries.

She walked with the group. Aaron’s arm still around her shoulders when they walked into the larger room. Their boss now the acting boss of the five groups saw them enter and his eyes flashed as he saw the contact between the two. Aaron nodded to him and his smile grew. She was getting better and moving on with her life.

The meeting went over by an hour as the others rushed out for the evening she stayed to finish up her paperwork. Every once in awhile someone would poke their heads in to tell her to have a nice weekend or something similar she would smile and wave them off. She heard the footsteps before she looked up to find one of the other team members standing outside her door. He was looking at the wall next to the door. “Nice flowers.” He said as he noticed she was looking at him.

“Flowers?” She asked as she stood and started walking over to the door.

She got to the door and he moved closer to the bundle almost blocking her view.

Her intake of breath was enough to have her spin just in time to catch her as she began to crumble to the ground. He lifted her easily and brought her back into her office. He called security to see if someone had been let into the building for a delivery for her. He had a name.

She blinked her eyes open and he was sitting in a chair facing her. His fingers  steepled together pressing against his chin. “What happened?” She asked.

“You fainted my dear.” He said softly. “I have a few questions for you if you don’t mind.”

She nodded and then waited. “I have a feeling it is either you or someone else asking them so go ahead.”

“Does the name Scott mean anything to you?” He asked as she turned white and nodded her head. The tears that she refused to shed where burning her eyes. “I thought so.”

“What does that mean?” She asked trying to turn her fear into anger.

“Easy there my dear.” He said with a grin that brought her back to the edge of her sanity. “I take it that was you ex-husband?”

“Yes.” She said as she tried to sit up.

“No need to rush. It is just us, princess.” He said softly.

“He found me again?” She asked no one. The question hung in the air.

“It seems he did or someone wants you to believe he did.” He said.

“What do you mean someone would want me to believe he did?” She asked now sitting but leaning backwards looking at the ceiling.

“You have made some Excellent progress even in the few months we have been here. Today I gathered that something remarkable happened the this. The timing is just to perfect for it to really be him. I know it is hard but take a step back and look at the situation again.” He said as he sat there watching her. He didn’t want to be the voice of reason as he looked at the small woman in Front of him. He wanted to be her friend and he knew talking openly to her he might push her away.

“Something remarkable?” She asked meeting his eyes that seemed to be aglow in the low light of her office.

“For what I overheard that was the first time you have allowed someone to touch you willingly beyond a handshake.” He said as she focused on his face. She nodded.

“You’re right.”

“Often more times then not I am. It is my job to observe things.” His smile flashed and for some reason her heart started to beat faster. “That is the thing that bothers me. The timing is too perfect. Unless he was hiding here all along I have to wonder if someone does not want to allow you heal completely.  Bettison said he stalked you in Real life and cyberly?”

“He did. At least I thought it was him.” She replied following what he was saying. Now that she had a reasonable voice other then her own in Her head she could see the difference. “But that means it is someone here.”

“Exactly.” Mitsuhide said as he looked at her as the realization hit her hard.

“They know where I live.” She said now afraid of going home.

“I thought that was classified.” He chuckled.

“Really it is supposed to be. On paper I live on base and not just here. The same time I left it was set up that I popped up on five other bases throughout the country.” She said.

“Impressive. So I do not think that this was your ex, princess. This was definitely someone here wanting you to be afraid of your shadow again like a mouse.” He said as she sat back and watched her emotions play out in her face.

“What do I do?” She asked quietly. “I don’t want to go back to being like before.”

“And you shall not. You have made great strides. I think with more help you could return to almost the way you were before. You just have to trust in someone.” He said plainly.

“Who?” She asked.

“Right now, me of course.” He said as he watched her again. She was processing the words and thinking of different outcomes, “if the person who did this knows where you live, mouse, this weekend could be torturous for you.”

“You’re right again. So I should go to a hotel or something?” She asked.

“I was thinking of playing a game of cat and mouse.” He replied again keeping his tone low and plain.

“How so?”

“We need the cat to show himself mouse. Then we can all react but until then what would drive this cat insane?” Mitsuhide leaned forward and met her eyes, “for some reason they want you to live in fear and to be alone. What if we take both of those options away from the cat?”

“I don’t follow.” She said as the confusion in her mind was taking over.

“Mouse, who ever did this waited until the moment was right. You had a major break through and they wanted to snatch it away. You need to take the horns and keep it. The way to needle the cat and keep you safe if for you to make another major breakthrough.” Mitsuhide was hoping that he was not pushing her to hard to fast but she did need to see it.

“What other major breakthroughs Akechi?” She asked.

“I assume that you have not gone out with any other male since the incident?” He asked.

“That is correct.” She replied.

“Then Go out with me tonight.” He said.

“What?” She asked.

“If the mouse finds another cat to mess with That cat becomes the target. Let me be the target, princess.” He said.

“You want to be the target?” She asked.

“Want to be is not really the case. I do wish you could have peace.” He said softly, “I will gladly take being a target for that.”

“Why?” She asked with widened eyes.

“That is simple, mouse. I like you. I think you have a strength you shouldn’t need to have but the thread holding you together needs help getting stronger. Let me help you.” He placed out his hand and she looked at it. Touching Aaron was different he had been there from the beginning. He was like a brother to her. She knew he would never hurt her. This man was a virtual stranger but here he was offer to  help her even more. She glanced at his hand again and then looked into his eyes. She knew this hand would never harm her either. She placed her hand in his. Everything had shifted as his hand was warm around hers. When he flipped it so the back of her hand was facing up he brought it slowly to to his face as his lips touched it she felt shivers down her spine.

“It seems, my dear, that our fate is sealed now.” His words echoed through her mind as he helped her to her feet.

The Reality of Love ch 3

Chapter three

Over the next week, he watched from behind the scenes as she took over the castles responsibilities. He watched her as she talked with the maids and housekeepers and she explained and sometimes even showed them how she wanted things done. Everyone was amazed with her as she did not demand things but instead talked to everyone as a person regardless of their station. She had been accepted as a princess, but she didn’t act like one. She could be found on her hands and knees scrubbing the floor along with the maids while talking to the cooks about what was for dinner for the week. The other Mitsuhide could not taste food. She wasn’t sure if this one could, but he did not mash his meals together, so she wished for things to taste good to be served to him.

She was becoming well liked. In her free time, she was found talking to the seamstresses of the castle. She was talking with them of their tasks and watched them as they went. On the day she took for herself he walked with her to the marketplace in the next town over, though it wasn’t too far he felt the need to go with her himself. If only to have her company. When they got there, she went straight for the fabric stall and began to look.

“Do you see anything you wish to have?” he asked.

“I see too much I wish to have.” She replied, and he laughed. “Mitsuhide these are all so beautiful.”

“Pick a few and get what you want, my dear.” He said as he propped up on the edge of the tent and watched as she talked with the fabric dealer. She did know her stuff as she could easily hold her own while talking about the fabric. He glanced over and looked at one fabric and had no idea that there was so much to talk about. it all seemed so simple to him.

“My dear, would you pick out another piece of fabric. I find myself wishing to see your talent and would like another kimono made for myself.” He said.

“Are you sure?” she asked.

“Sure that I would like you to make me something, yes.” He said with smile.

“Alright.” She said as she looked at him and then at the fabric. Then she looked back and forth a few more times. She then smiled as she went to a slightly patterned one and told the dealer how much she wanted of it and the matching thread and other notions. She was smiling as everything was wrapped up in a bundle for them to carry back to the castle. He told the dealer that she was able to charge to the castles accounts.

“You should be careful with that Mitsuhide.” She said. “I could bankrupt you that way.”

“Then, I shall endeavor to have the castle make more money for you to spend my dear.” He said as he took her hand. “Princess I do have to ask you something.”

“What?” she asked.

“Are you happy here?” he asked softly. “Is there anything I can do to make things better for you?”

“Mitsuhide, thank you for thinking about me. I am trying to do what I can to make it happy here. I know I want to go home and have told you that a few times but the simple fact is I think you may be stuck with me. I should have waited for my friend and the actual wormhole to appear. Now I believe I am stuck. If I go through another crack, I may just shift to another dimension, not actually go home.” She said with a sigh. “I don’t think that would be all that good and to be honest here is very nice.”

“You will stay with me?” he asked, slightly surprised.

“I don’t think I have a choice. I understand if you want me to leave at some point. I know you have to marry sooner rather than later and one more woman may be too much for the castle. I will gladly hand over the reins to your wife.” She said, trying to smile.

“Do you think I could make you happy?” he asked as he stopped in the middle of the dirt road.

“What?” she asked as she looked up at him.

“I know you loved him, do you think you could ever love me?” he asked.

“Mitsuhide.” She said on a whisper.

“No, princess, could you?” he pushed further.

“I could, yes. You are not like him. I could not be his concubine, and I won’t be yours either.” She said.

“I wasn’t asking if you would be that. One woman is all a man really needs. The right woman.” He said softly.

“Mitsuhide.” She said.

“Princess, will you let me court you?” he asked. That was it in her mind. The straw that broke the camels back. She had been watching him to see the differences between the two men who shared a face. This was the major difference. This Mitsuhide was openly kind, and though he was still known as the torturer of the Oda forces, he was gentle and loving with his people. She saw them as different people. She knew she could love this man. She was already beginning to feel the pull between them. She was grateful to see this man, and she knew what he said was the truth in his eyes.

“Yes.” She replied as she looked him in the eye. “I think that would be fine.”

“Good.” He replied. “I will be good to you, princess.”

“You already are, Mitsuhide.” She said with a smile.

“Come then. We will go home and enjoy the rest of the day.” He said as he retook her hand. Something happened between them then as they both looked at their interlaced hands and then each other. They smiled at each other and continued on their way back to the castle. “Do you know how to use a gun?”

“Yes.” She said with a giggle.

“I assume he showed you?” he said with a certain disgust that was present in his voice.

“No. I knew from my time. Our guns are different, though. They can fire rapidly, and you don’t have to reload every time.” She replied.

“You are joking.” He said.

“No. I am not. It holds between ten and fifteen bullets, and it works without adding the gunpowder. You just have to pull the trigger.” She said.

“I wish I could see one of these guns you speak of.” He said.

“I wish I could show one to you.” She replied with a laugh.

“Is the future so different from here?” he asked.

“It is. Not better or worse though just different. We still have wars. We still have plague and famine. We have ended many diseases that are here as well, but for all the good, there is bad as well. The people who rule are not like the rulers today. They all have their own issues, and our weapons are ones that could destroy the entire planet. Things are different for sure here. It is simpler here, but you have to work hard for everything. It is just too difficult to explain the differences.” She replied as the castle can into view.

“What would you like to do for the rest of the day, my dear?” he asked as he tucked a stray lock of her hair behind her ear. His long fingers trailed down the side of her neck softly with feather light touches.

“I don’t know.” She said with a laugh. “I don’t know how one courts here.”

“What did you do before?” he asked.

“We went on dates. Dinner out, movie, amusement park, something fun.” She said. “You don’t have any of those things here. What do you do here?”

“Honestly I have no idea. You are the first woman I wanted to court like this.” He said with a smile.

“Wonderful then we are already stuck in a rut.” She said with an airy laugh.

“I am sure we can amuse ourselves. How about reading of a book?” he asked.

“With you reading?” she said as she nodded. “I still am having trouble with the writing of your time.”

“That is fine. I will teach you.” He replied. “Come, let’s go to the library workspace and pick a book. I will read to you on the veranda until dinner is served. We will also share a meal there. Maybe a moon viewing if the weather holds?”

“That sounds like a wonderful rest of the day, Mitsuhide.” She said.

“I hope you enjoy it, Kit, you deserve a break.” He said softly. “My people are impressed with you. I am as well. You will make a good mistress of the castle.”

“Aren’t you jumping the gun there a bit?” she asked.

“No, I don’t believe I am Princess.” He said with a smile as he tilted her chin up to him to look into her sky blue eyes. “I don’t believe I am.” He whispered again as he leaned forward and touched his lips to hers softly.

Lessons Learned ch 4

He was sitting at his desk in the office when his phone rang. He reached for it and saw it was Noelle. He picked it up to hear her crying.
“Noelle what is it?” He asked before he she could speak.
“The the the apartment buuuuildinng.” She drew out.
“Noelle where are you?” Mitsuhide asked as panic flew through him.
“Outside.” She responded and he was now standing grabbing his jacket and checking to make sure he had his wallet and keys.
“Noelle are you at your place?” He asked.
“Yeah.” She replied.
“I’ll be right there.” Mitsuhide said as he got in his car and flew out of the parking lot and was racing towards her. They had gone out to dinner at least once a week since the first time he took her to dinner and then to his house to go over studying. That had been five weeks ago. He had been happy for the first time and he was scared nearly out of his mind when she called.
He got to the perimeter and the local police all recognized him as they waved him through. “What are you doing here. A simple drug fire.” One of the cops said as they looked at him.
“Not here for the case. A friend called me who lived in the building. I need to find her.” Mitsuhide said as he was looking through the crowd.
“A friend of yours lives here?” The cop said.
“My assistant.” Mitsuhide said as he walked away. He was looking everywhere for Noelle when he spotted a woman sitting on the sidewalk. “Noelle?”
“Mitsuhide!” She said as she struggled to stand. She went to him and he wrapped his arms around her and held her tight.
“Are you okay?” He asked into her hair.
“I heard the explosion and then the heat and then The fire alarms went off. I managed to get out quickly.” Noelle said. “Everything is gone.”
“It can be replaced.” He said. “You are what is important here. You and the baby.”
“Mitsuhide I have nothing now.” She said as she sobbed into him.
“You’re alive. Everything else doesn’t matter.” He whispered into her hair. “You and the baby are fine Noelle that is what matters.”
“I don’t know what to do. I grabbed my purse and my backpack but everything else is gone. I don’t have anything Mitsuhide. Anything.” She cried.
“Come love. Come with me. I will take care of you for now.” Mitsuhide said as he started to lead her away from the building. She was distracted and distraught. He knew that she was probably in shock as well. He wanted to get her out of the cold. He wrapped his jacket around her.  As he led her away he passed his information to one of the investigations as the contact for her and her apartment. He knew that meant they would watch whatever was left of hers closer because of him.
He sat her down in the car and he went to the driver-side and got in.
“Noelle talk to me.” Mitsuhide said as he started the car and started driving away.
“I don’t know what I’m going to do. Now there is no way. I can’t do this.” Noelle said in a quiet voice.
“You can, sweetheart.” He said softly he took her hand in his and she looked at it like it was an alien concept.
“Mitsuhide I need to think about this in reality. I should talk to an adoption agency. I can’t do this. I can’t do anything right.” She cried. When he pulled into his driveway she looked around blankly. He got out and helped her out as he got to her side. He braced his hand around her when she had a deep intake of breath. He felt the reason she did that and he was surprised.
“Was that?” He asked.
“It was him.” She said softly.
“Him?” Mitsuhide asked, “you didn’t tell me you knew what it was.”
“I found out earlier.” She said. She reached in her purse and pulled out the ultrasound pictures and handed them to Mitsuhide.
“So this is what the little alien looks like.” He chuckled.
“I don’t want to see it.” She said.
“Noelle stop.” He said as he showed her the pictures, “ this is your baby boy. He is fine.”
“Mitsuhide I can’t do this. I tried and I failed.” She said defeated.
“Oh really and how did you do that, my dear?” He asked as he led her to the couch.
“Everything I had was there. It’s all gone.” Noelle said softly, “I can’t rebuild it. I can’t afford another place.”
“What were you paying?” He asked.
“450.” She said.
“Okay sweetheart how about you rent two rooms from me?” He asked.
“What?” She asked.
“Rent the two upstairs rooms from me. You can have one and the baby can have the other. Hell just pay for one room. The baby can stay  for free. Actually let me help with the baby Noelle.” Mitsuhide said as he sat down.
“You want to help?” She asked confused, “why?”
“Call it a need to help you. Look he will be here in a few months let me help you.” Mitsuhide said. He saw her hands on her abdomen and he wanted nothing more than to feel the baby as well. “Can I?”
He reached out his hand and she looked at it, “Of course.” She guided his hand to the side of her growing stomach and put it there. The baby kicked almost immediately.
“Is it always like that?” He asked as he chuckled moving slightly closer.
“He is active at night more. I think the quiet gets to him.” Noelle said as she looked up at the man who just offered to house her and her baby. “Did you mean it? Letting us stay here?”
“Yes. Actually I insist. Noelle I meant to bring this up before this happened. I didn’t like you living there and to be honest a fire was the best thing that could have happened to you. A young woman in general in that area is not safe. I had a hard time sleeping at night knowing you were there. Noelle I have a proposal for you but I don’t think Now is the time to ask.” Mitsuhide said.
“Just ask Mitsuhide.” She said. “I’m not completely in shock.”
“I know you want to keep him regardless of what you said. Noelle you will be a great mother I already know that but you shouldn’t have to do it alone. What you say if I claimed him as mine as well?” Mitsuhide said.
“What?” Noelle asked.
“Look we get along well enough. You need help and I am willing to step up and help you and the baby. Let me claim him as my son, Noelle and he will be safe forever if you let me do that.” Mitsuhide said softly. “Noelle please allow me to do that. He will never want for anything, neither of you will.”
“Mitsuhide why?” She asked.
“Do you really want to know?” He asked as he moved closer to her. His hand was still on her abdomen rubbing in small circles. She was acutely aware of it as he was so gentle as he touched her.
She nodded as she swallowed. He leaned forward as he brushed his lips on hers as his other hand wrapped around her nape and brought her closer to him. She was not in shock as she kissed him back.
“Noelle.” He whispered softly against her lips.
“Yes Mitsuhide. I will allow you to help me and him.” She said equally as soft against his lips.
“Thank god.” He said as he smiled. He kissed her again gently as he moved his hand on her abdomen.
“Are you sure you want that?” Noelle asked.
“A son? You? Of course I wanted that since the day I found you outside my office.” Mitsuhide said. “Look Noelle I would like to try at something I never had before, regardless of this between us working or not I will be this guys father forever, okay?”
“You mean that?” Noelle asked.
“I wouldn’t say something that permanent if I didn’t mean it, sweetheart. I have reached the point in my life I want more than just working. I’m tired of coming home to an empty house. I will admit I was attracted to you that first day. I didn’t want an assistant. Somehow you broke through that with your honesty that day. You wanted walls and barriers all around you I can understand why. I watched you struggle and stumble and the whole time I wanted nothing more to step in an help you. I don’t make interpersonal relationships Noelle. I tend to want to sit on the sidelines and watch things but with you somehow it was impossible to do that. I worried about you even before you told me about him. We might not be a conventional thing but I will help you as much as I can with him. Having a child around might be the last puzzle piece I need. I want to have you here.” Mitsuhide said softly.
“What about my job?” She asked.
“Thats what you ask?” He laughed.
“Well I do need money.” She said.
“Your job was never in question, my dear.” He said chuckling. “As long as the directors don’t catch wind of it I don’t see any issues. I think the problem will arise when I take paternity leave. However I will take the consequences when they arise.”
“Mitsuhide I don’t want you to get in trouble because of me.” Noelle said as she sat back into the couch.
“There will be no trouble, almost all the Professors have relationships with some of their students some more than one or two. As long as it is consensual and no laws are broken everyone is adults so no one cares. Of course you are not my student so there is no question of authority or misuse. I am fine.” Mitsuhide countered. “And regardless this is worth a paper in my file. No one has to know the true parentage of the child, just us. And we can take our time with each other. I am not saying we jump into something we aren’t ready for. Everything will happen as it should. Tomorrow we will go and get you a bed for tonight you will sleep on mine, I will be out here. We will also start getting things for him. We have some time so we can get enough for him to have to be ready.”
“Mitsuhide I don’t know what to say.” Noelle said as she looked at the man in front of her. This man was laying everything down in front of her that she wanted without and qualms or conditions. She had to think this was a dream. She never expected help, or anything from him. He was offering everything she wanted to her including a family and a father for her son. “Mitsuhide there is only one problem with your plan.”
“What is that?” He asked as he narrowed his eyes slightly he had thought this through for over a month and could see nothing wrong with it.
“I don’t know who the father is, he could be a completely different race.” She said softly.
“And you think skin tone would matter to me?” He asked.
“If you claim him and he is a mixed race baby people will talk.” She said.
“So let them. Noelle from this moment baby Hanson is now Baby Akechi do you understand?” He said with a soft grin, “I personally like the sound of that.”
“I think I do too.” She said as she moved her head to his shoulder and rested a moment. His hand still rubbing soft circles on her abdomen. When the baby land a sharp kick right under his hand.
“I think he does too.” Mitsuhide said softly as he moved his arm around her and held her tight to him with his other on top of where his now son resided. He went from scared out of his mind to more content with life then he had ever been. He made a silent promise to both of them to keep them close and happy as ling as he was able too.

Lessons learned ch 3

Mitsuhide drove up to the address she had listed on her application and was horrified that this was where she lived. The area was so run down and from his experience working with the police force was majorly crime ridden. A young woman living alone here was dangerous let alone a basically asking for trouble.

She walked out of the apartment building and got in his car. He looked her over. “What?” She asked.

“Are you crazy or stupid?” He asked rather bluntly.

“Excuse me?” She retorted as they started driving.

“This neighborhood is no place for someone like you.” He said.

“Excuse me again?” She asked.

“Noelle it isn’t safe. You have to see that.” He said softly.

“Well it is the best I could afford at the moment.” She replied. “Not like a lot of people are running out to make a nice apartment cheap.”

“I understand that.” He said “but this neighborhood I know is riddled with drugs, prostitution, and other gangs. It’s not safe for someone like you. You are alone and pregnant a perfect target here.”

“Professor please.” She said as she looked around.

“Alright I will drop it for now.” He said as they neared the restaurant he had picked. “I hope you like this place.”

“I’m sure I will. Its been awhile since I’ve been out.” She said with a smile.

“I should have asked what you prefer but this place has a wide selection.” He said, “it is also out of the way so no prying eyes.”

“Prying eyes?” She asked.

“Things that could make you feel uncomfortable if lets say a few of the other Professors came in.” He replied, “I would prefer not to have them around myself. ”

“You’re right I wouldn’t like it if the other professors thought something more was going on between us.” She said with a chuckle.

“Of course you wouldn’t.” He said dryly and he figured he had all his answers.

“That didn’t come out the way I wanted it too.” She said. “I don’t want to be seen as a gold digger.”

“What?” He asked chuckling now.

“I am a pregnant young woman who is completely alone, Professor Akechi. I am afraid that that is how I would be seen if I was seen with a prominent professor with a reputation like yours.” Noelle said, “I know how people who see it.”

“Noelle.” He sighed. “Couldn’t it just be the opposite though. A Professor like me sees an attractive young woman and wants to try to build something he isn’t sure he could have in a different situation.”

“I’m not sure I follow.” She said.

“Let’s go eat.” He said as he pulled in as he wanted nothing more than to drop the conversation. He had given to much away already.

As they sat down in the dimly lit room near the back she looked around and understood this had to be his go to place. In a way it was like him. Dark and mysterious and full of secrets. Noelle’s attraction to the man hadn’t diminished an once since she began to work for him. She was well and good deep into a crush for the man and this was like a dream come true. She looked at him as he looked over the menu and she had to smile to herself. The reasons that led her here were also the reasons she could never have what she wanted the most. He wouldn’t ever want her she was damaged goods now. However she could still have that private fantasy in the back of her head.

As they ordered he was not impressed with her choice. She was supposed to be eating and she seemed more inclined to pick at a small entree instead.

“Is the food to your liking?” He asked.

“Yes.” She smiled at him.

“Next time you can get something else which is bigger.” He said.

“Next time?” She asked.

“Noelle I didn’t expect this to be a one time thing.” He said. “Someone has to look out for you.” He hand over his card to the server and looked at her.

“Professor that is a nice thought but I can take care of myself.” She replied as she put her napkin down and couldn’t look him in the eyes.

He reached over the table and hooked his finger under her chin and nudged her head up to look at him, “Noelle look at me.”

“Professor.” She whispered.

“Noelle when it is just the two of us would you please call me by my name?” Mitsuhide asked.

“That doesn’t seem right.” She replied.

“Why ever not?” He asked. “You do realize I am more than just a professor correct? I am a person too.”

“I guess so. Its just that I work for you and I can’t afford to lose this job.” Noelle said.

“Who said anything about you losing your job?” He replied.

“But if I am to familiar with you I could lose it.” She said softly.

“Silly girl. You won’t lose your job.” Mitsuhide chuckled. “In fact you may end up with more than you bargained for.”

“What does that mean?” She asked.

“Oh nothing Noelle. Now will you please call me by my name when it is just the two of us?” He asked.

“Fine.” She said.

“Fine what?” He prompted.

“Fine Mitsuhide.” She said.

“Good girl.” He smirked as he sat back in his chair as the server brought the receipt back along with his card. The first steps had been taken. He knew it and so did she though it was not clear to her at the moment. He had to smile to himself as he helped her from the table and escorted her to the car. “Is there anywhere else you wish to go?”

“No.” She said softly. “I have to study and I have some work to do from my slave driver of a boss.”

“Study what?” He asked ignoring her boss comment.

“I have a test on the formula and chemical compounds of enzymes reactions between substances.” She replied.

“Like oxidant And reactives?” He asked.

“Thats it exactly.” She said surprised.

“You’re in luck than.” He said. “I happen to be somewhat of an expert on that.”

“Really?” She asked.

“Despite what you think my dear, I did take a variety of course while I was in college.” He said to her laughter.“

"I can’t see you in a lab coat though.” She said.

“Maybe one day I will let you see it.” He chuckled. “Come on I help you with your studies.”

“Pro- Mitsuhide are you sure I mean it is your time off.” She said.

“Noelle I can’t think of anything better to do or anything I would rather do either.” Mitsuhide said as he started driving to his house.

“I need my books.” She said.

“Perks of being a professor, my dear. I have access to all the books.” He chuckled.

When he pulled into his house she looked around at the driveway and then the house. Noelle didn’t want to seem surprised that he had a place like this. It was nice and well kept. The two story house was in a quiet neighborhood somehow she never would have thought it was something he would have. She had to shake her thoughts. “You coming or are you going to stand here and stare at the house?” Mitsuhide asked as he chuckled, “I know most people have that reaction when they see it as if I was supposed to live in a cave or something.”

“I’m sorry was it obvious?” She said as she walked over to him as he opened the front door.

“The house is new. I figured since I am going to stay here for some time it was time to be an adult. I am not sure it was a good fit.” Mitsuhide said.

“Why is that?” Noelle asked as she walked in to a nearly empty house.

“Like I said the house is new and it is too much for just me.” He said as he threw his keys on the counter.

“Professor it is.” She started to say.

“Mitsuhide.” He said.

“What?” She asked.

“My name is Mitsuhide.” He said as he looked at her again.

“Fine Mitsuhide I was going to say that the house just needs some things. Plenty of people live alone in places like this.” Noelle replied. “I know plenty of people that have more than this but they often are miserable.”

“Well that is good to know.” He said with a deep chuckle, “personal experience?”

“My parents.” She replied as she looked around.

“Well now that doesn’t sound all that good.” Mitsuhide said as he guided her to the couch in the corner of the large room. “I will pull up the text books. Did you want something to drink?”

“Water is fine.” Noelle said as Mitsuhide looked at her and shook his head, “sorry for a moment I forgot. It isn’t like I have many people over."

"The funny thing is I did forget for a minute.” She laughed. “Normally it is like a plague hanging over me. You made me forget for a minute.”

“I know I have no right to ask but is it horrible like that often?” Mitsuhide asked.

“I guess what makes it horrible is the being alone. I mean I didn’t expect that my parents would even refuse to talk to me or that my siblings would follow suit. Its a child not a deadly disease or something. Thats what hurts the most that if I chose some other route they would welcome Me back into the family fold if inly I bow to their wishes. A unmarried woman having a child is unacceptable. Not knowing the child’s father is also unacceptable. However the worst sin of all is choosing to have it and keep it.” She said.

“So your family is what ultra religious?” He asked as he sat with his computer open as he listened to her.

“No more like ultra controlling. They aren’t religious at all. My sisters and brothers follow their lead and do as they are told. From the career choices they could have to their spouses my parents make all their choices. It took them cutting me off for me to see it for what it was. Thats why I haven’t run back. I could never live a life like that under someone’s thumb. I might not be able to provide much but I can try at least. I have to try. It is my decision after all.” Noelle said as she looked up at him. “What?”

“I find you extremely interesting Noelle. You had everything at your finger tips and you chose to make your own way.” He said as he brushed a piece of hair away from her face. He looked into her eyes and he saw the slight flash of awareness in them. He had to internally smile at that. This was going to be interesting but he knew it would be worth it for both of them in the end, he just needed not to spook her long enough to have her see the truth in front of them.

Lessons learned ch 2

Two months had gone by and somehow she had survived so far. Noelle was sitting on the beat up couch in the office as he finished up his last class of the day. She had finished the grading for the packet of papers he had left her. She had the list of things he needed and she had ordered them all for him. She was just sitting think what else she could do when the wave of drowsiness took over. That was the next stage of this she had heard though the doctor she had seen hadn’t told her it would be this bad. She closed her eyes for what seemed like a moment and when she opened them he was at his desk reading something on the computer.

He glanced up and peered at her through his glasses which just made his eyes seem even more golden. “Noelle I really do think we need to have a conversation.” He started. She sighed knowing that all her hard work and dedication to the job he was going to find out the reason she needed it and he would fire her.

“I really don’t want to have this conversation professor.” She sighed again, “I will pack up my things and will help you train my replacement.”

“You’re quitting?” He asked.

“I thought you would be firing me.” She said.

“Why would I fire you?” He asked, “so far you have been the best assistant I ever had.”

“But why did you want to have a conversation then?” She asked.

“Because your issues are becoming more prominent, Noelle. You have to say the words and I need to hear them so we can change some of your tasks.” He said.

“Nothing has to change.” She replied.

“Noelle.” He said sternly as his eyes narrowed.

“Fine. I am pregnant. Fine are you happy now?” She sputtered out with tears in her eyes.

“Not particularly. Are you?” He asked, “hiding something like that has to be exhausting.”

“It was.” She said as she sat back.

“Where is the father?” He asked, as he raked his eyes over her.

“I don’t know.” She said softly.

“Now I have to admit that shocks me.” He said as he sat back in his chair.

“I don’t. I hate to say it but I don’t know who the father is. It was a surprise for me as well.” She said.

“Care to explain?” He asked with his fingers now steepled on his desk as he leaned forward.

“I really don’t want to but I went to a party with a few friends last school year. I had one drink and then the next thing I know I am in my dorm room. Everything seemed fine but a few weeks later, well yeah.” She shrugged.

“That unfortunately makes much more sense.” He said softly. “What do you plan to do?”

“Finish the year. I’m on track to but as you already probably guessed I have been cut off from my family so I have to do this on my own. Hence why I needed this job.” She said.

“I meant about the child.” He said keeping his tone even.

“I know I had a choice in the beginning and everyone told me to take it I couldn’t. It’s mine, you know.” She said shrugging, “I know it won’t be easy but I will do whatever I have too to make it work.”

He sat back and looked at her again his eyes giving nothing away.

“You need to rest more.” He said, “I believe we should cut your hours.”

“But I need those hours.” She said. “Professor please. This job is me saving so I can get the things the baby needs.”

“Will you promise not to work yourself to hard?” He asked.

“Do I have a choice?” She retorted.

“Noelle how far along are you exactly?” He asked.

“Four and a half months.” She said with a sigh. She didn’t want to be here having this conversation with him but she knew she had too. He had surprised her with how observant he was. Picking up on things she liked and didn’t. He had avoided mixing his meals around her.

“And you have no one?” He asked.

“No.” She replied.

“No friends?” He asked.

“Professor why would that matter?” She avoided answering the question.

“So no, let me guess when you said something they all thought you were crazy and stupid. As they went to bar or something like that?” He asked. She nodded. She had made the hardest decision of her life and everyone around her had thought she was insane for making that one. “Admirable.”

“What is?” She asked as the tears filled her eyes.

“You changed course without anyone instead you have worked hard and continued doing what you needed to to hopefully fulfill your dreams. That is admirable.”

“Thank you.” She choked out as the tears slipped passed her eyelids.

“Here.” He said handing her a piece of paper.

“What’s this?” She asked.

“My phone number. My cell number. You have no one else if you need to call me.” He said as he looked at her, “Noelle you need to eat more as well. I know your money is locked up right now, let me take you out to dinner.”

“Sir.” Noelle started and then “Professor Akechi I’m not sure that is a good idea.”

“Food.” He replied, “you need to eat.”

“Fine.” She said softly not wanting to agree but things were tight and though she was eating it wasn’t  always the best option.

“I will pick you up in a few hours say six o’clock?” He said, “you are dismissed for the day.”

“Fine.” She said as she stood up and got her bag. It was Friday and she had to start the weekend somehow. She had given up the fun of going out and had to stay at her apartment most of the time. The noise from her various neighbors was almost as good as watching television. A dinner out would be nice even if it was with her boss. It wasn’t like he liked her he was just being a thoughtful boss.

She walked out of the office and Mitsuhide Akechi sat back in his chair and wondered why he just did that. Noelle was the best assistant he ever had but there was something more about her. He was attracted to her the moment he saw her sitting on the floor by his office door and knew he was asking for punishment when he did hire her. He had started pitting things together about her pregnancy very early on. She often had a greenish complexion when food was brought up, her tiredness though she was working the job well was also becoming more evident ever day, in the past month though it was the changes in her appearance that sealed the deal. He wanted to find out who the father was and make sure he was doing his part in helping out only to find out there was none. This hard working woman who was cut off from her family had no one to help her and she was barely making it. He did admire her. He was envious as well.

He was even more attracted to her than he was before and now he knew it would be difficult to work with her. He never had a burning desire for a female before but knowing she wasn’t even a regular college student and never one of his students allowed him to pursue her if he chose too. He could easily help her out and it wouldn’t make a dent in his life but he wanted more. He wasn’t sure what he wanted but it was just more than writing a check to her and calling it a day. He was eight years older than her and though until that conversation he had thought he was content to be alone as his colleagues were all getting married and having children he was sure he would remain alone that is until a certain female applied to work for him.

He stared to make plans in his mind. This dinner would be the catalyst for his next move either way. If it was a good one he would move on and if it turned bad he would just remain her boss and it seemed only friend.

“Knock knock” he heard from the hallway and looked up to see Professor Toyotomi one of his colleagues and he begrudgingly called him a friend though their friendship at best was strained.

“What do you want?” Mitsuhide asked.

“Came to see if you wanted to go out with the others tonight?” Hideyoshi asked.

“I have other plans.” Mitsuhide said.

“Oh. Doing what?” Hideyoshi asked skeptically.

“My assistant.” Mitsuhide countered.

“What?” Hideyoshi asked with wide eyes.

“I have a working dinner with my assistant, Miss Hanson.” Mitsuhide said with a smirk. “What did you think I meant?”

“I mean she is a pretty girl.” Hideyoshi replied.

“She is an adult you know. A graduate student getting ready to graduate but that is neither here nor there. Just a dinner to go over a few changes I made to the syllabus.” Mitsuhide said his smirk growing. He knew how to get under his friends skin. Though it was perfectly fine for a professor and student to have a relationship Hideyoshi had numerous objections to the practice. This time he couldn’t say much of anything if it did work out the way Mitsuhide hoped for it too she was never his student.

“Well if it is a working dinner.” Hideyoshi said as he eyed the other man.

“Whatever else would it be?” Mitsuhide asked with a tone of innocence both men knew he didn’t have.

“I could go on the dangers of getting involved in a relationship with a student but I have a feeling you just want to rile me up. Just be careful Mitsuhide, some of these women will do nearly anything to make sure they get an A.” Hideyoshi said as he stood up.

“I am sure she has no desire for that type of A.” Mitsuhide said with a laugh. “You do realize of course she is not my student nor has she ever been.”

“Then how is she doing the work?” Hideyoshi asked as he turned to look back at Mitsuhide who was now standing and getting his papers to place in his computer bag.

“Thats the thing Hideyoshi she learned the course the first two weeks she worked for me. She never took my classes.” Mitsuhide smiled, “she is a rather impressive young woman. Now if you’ll excuse me I need to go get some things ready before dinner.”

“Be careful though.” Hideyoshi said as they parted in the hallway.

“I have nothing to worry about.” Mitsuhide as he smirked again and he knew he didn’t. Either way this dinner went he had nothing to worry about when it came to Noelle.

Falling in Love ch 1

No warnings….

They had become reluctant heros. The group of fourteen men had done what they had been trained to do in any situation. However it had not only garnered national attention but the attention of women everywhere. Their faces were now plastered everywhere and they had found they did not like it.

It was to much for them. They hated the attention. They didn’t see what they did as anything special. It was an accident that started everything. Three motorcycles had been hit by a tractor trailer then the pile up behind all of it. They had been right behind it all when it happened. As they came to a screeching halt they three open their doors and all ran towards the people.

One pulled out his phone and placed his ear piece in,“ Doc?”

“What?” A soft voice replied.

“Accident right in front of us. Multiple injuries I need help accessing them.” He said quickly as he made his way through the wreckage.

“Are you all okay?” She asked threw the phone.

“Sweetheart we were behind the accident not a part of it. Now im going to send you pictures. You ready?” He asked.

“Go ahead.” She said and rapid fire he was taking pictures of the motor cyclist and sent them. “Lift the leg of the first in the straight black jacket. Tie off the leg at the joint. Did someone call ems?”

“Ieyasu did but they are 20 out.” He replied and he called out her orders to Hideyoshi who was by the first.

“If ieyasu is there why call me?” She asked, as she scrolled through the pictures,“ red and black jacket I need a pulse stat. He looks in bad shape but can wait.”

“I wanted to hear your voice.” He replied to her first question and then went on to bark out more orders to Masamune. “Ieyasu is dealing with the other cars and trucks involved. Lots of injuries with this one. He looked at Nobunaga who was working on the last.

"The on in the black and white jacket. Lift his leg and apply pressure quick and hard.” She said. He looked around as he heard a faint cry in the wooded area. He told Nobunaga and then he turned and followed the sound. “What are you doing now?”

“I hear something that sounds like it is crying.” He said.

“Crying?” She asked and he saw it.

“Not you my love a real baby.” He said.

“I figured that.” She replied. “Car seat?”

“Yes thank god.” He replied as he gently turned it over. The baby was scraped and bleeding. “Spoke to soon.”

“What? picture, Mitsuhide.” She demanded.

“You are seriously demanding you know that?” He said chuckling.

“Just do it.” She said. “Infant takes priority.”

“I know that, sent.” He replied ,“and it is one of the qualities i love about you.”

“Mitsuhide.” She said. “Don’t play like that.”

He thought to himself if she only knew I wasn’t playing. He held his tongue though.

“Crap.” She said as she looked at the photo.

“What honey?” He asked ready to move if he had too. He would do whatever she said. He knew that and so did she. She was like his guardian angel as they often worked in tandem like this.

“Mitsuhide get that baby to the medic on the ems. Im going to call a chopper in.” She said.

“What is wrong?” He asked as he the. Took a good look and he saw what she did. He scooped up the carseat and began running. The first truck arrived and he waved it down. He almost threw the baby at them and told them what she said. They got the orders that she had called in. They took the baby and flew out of there to reach the chopper at the spot closest it could land.

Mitsuhide looked at the organized chaos that was all around them as the news crews began to swarm. She was busy ordering things though he could still hear her. He helped where he could with the things she taught him. Soon enough first responders were there and could take over the scene.

“Sweetheart they took over.” He said.

“Good.” She replied.

“Thank you.” He said as he waited.

“For what?” She asked.

“Helping.” He replied, “when we get back can I come over?”

“Why do you even ask anymore?” She asked laughing. “Of course you can. Movie?”

“Sounds good.” He replied.

“See you soon.” She said.

She turned on the tv and saw the coverage. Mitsuhide, who was one of her closest friends was there handing off the baby she had seen in the pictures. She was waiting and listening when she knew something was different about this news coverage. They weren’t talking about the accident but the team of bystanders who rushed to the rescue. She could see what was happening and knew the men she worked with were in for it. Every woman who was watching would fall in love and they were going to have a run for their money.

They had no idea what was going on either. she silently sent up a prayer for them to realize it before it got to out of hand. She had seen this before a few times. The guys, themselves, were clueless on how things like this worked. She knew it was going to go viral, how could it not. Fourteen great looking men helping people out who were soldiers as well, this was going to hit big time.

the text messeges to her started quickly.

“The guys on tv they are your co-workers?” one of her friends asked.

“Those guys are hot!” another said.

“Wait you work with them?” another sent soon after. she unplugged her phone and then turned the sound off.

“Did you see the television? that guy with the baby, crap my whole body is burning for him!” was the last message that was sent. She thought to herself this could be a problem. She knew he had no idea how she felt about him and now he was viral famous. So many other women would be throwing themselves at him and she would have to sit by. She had no idea why that idea scared her so much.

When the doorbell rang throughtout her house she walked slowly to the door knowing it was him. She did and didn’t want to see him right then. She knew she had to figure out her mind before she did. Would she do something? Should she do something? the idea was coming to her when he opened the door and was standing there with a bag of food and some flowers he must have picked up. He was looking at her and he stopped. “What?” he asked.

“We have an issue, Mitsu.” she replied.

“What is that?” he asked confused.

“The news is making you all out to be more than heros.” she started. “You and the others are going viral right now.”

“And why is that a problem?” he asked.

“Mitsuhide every woman who looks at all of you is going to push to meet all of you.” she said.

“And?” he asked.

“Mitsu don’t be difficult!” She said.

“I am not trying to be, my dear. I just don’t understand why this bothers you so much.” he replied with a lazy grin. “it doesn’t bother me at all.”

“Mitsuhide.” she said as she walked back into the house.

“Sweetheart take your flowers please.” he said as he followed her into the house as he kicked the door closed behind him.

“You’re worried about the flowers?” she asked as she took them from his grasp.

“I did buy them for you.” he replied. “I thought you might like them.”

“Thank you Mitsu, but you do need to take this seriously.” she said.

“I do not understand why, Mouse. You seem to be doing that enough for the both of us.” he chuckled.

“Damnit.” she replied.

The pair were in the kitchen and standing closer than they normally did but she was not facing him. She was looking away debating if she did want to make that next statement that she had been holding back. She was trying to force herself to bit her cheek not to speak when she turned around and he was right there looking at her. the golden eyes she knew she loved with every fiber of her being though she had tried to fight through it and hide it. she looked at his face and the dam broke.

he looked at her as she turned to look at him. she was holding something back. he wondered if the situation though it was not as dire as he thought it would as bad as she thought. he was watching her when he saw the flash of everything in her blue eyes that he thought of as he looked at the sky mid-day. She was the center of every thought he had though he had never let her know. When he saw that flash he knew. He knew everything.

He bent to her level. A foot taller then her he bent to peer in the eyes. “Do you wish to tell me something mouse?"

"No.” she replied quickly and she tried to turn but he was quicker than she was as he pulled her closer to him and she couldn’t pull away she wanted too. She didn’t though.

“Liar.” he said as his lips pressed into hers. her hands found the back of his neck and held him there. “I do believe you do have something to say. I know I do.”

“Mitsu.” was all she could say as he had pulled back slightly.

“Mouse how long?” he asked.

“Forever.” she replied and she found herself being pushed into a counter as he bent down effortlessly and picked her up and placed her there in front of him.

“Well that is way to long to wait.” he said as he moved in between her legs and ravished her mouth forgetting the food and the flowers. when he pulled back a grin took over his mouth and pressed his forehead to hers as they both tried to catch their breaths. “God damnit it Princess, I love you so much, now it is time to punish you for making me wait so long to do that.”

Leason learned ch 1

This does have a few warnings. Mention of date rape drugs and drugged rape. Single pregnancy also.

On moblie and can’t put in a break. Sorry.

The teacher list who needed Ta’s had been posted for a week before she had got the chance to look at it. She was kicking herself now even more than she had been already. If her life hadn’t been going down hill since she got the news that changed everything and then her parents had cut off the financial aide because of her decisions this was going to be the next bad thing in her life. At twenty two she was technically an adult and had been for four years as she had gone to college and then Grad school this was her final year. She had managed to scrape up enough for tuition and books and even a small apartment but she needed to make a little money to prepare for her new reality.

The last teacher accepting  Applications was the one she had avoided for the five years she had been at the school. There was something about him that set her awareness off. Not only was he one of the best forensic  investigators in the world he was handsome as hell as well. She hung her head low and swallowed her pride as she headed to his office. There was a box of applications outside his door and she took one and sat down by the door to fill it out when the door opened and there was a woman who was crying as she looked horrified and nearly ran from the door.

“Oh another one, good.” The professor said as he looked down at the woman sitting in the floor. His sarcasm was thick, “well come on and let’s get this over with.”

“Sir, I-was just filling this out. I didn’t expect an interview today.” She replied.

“Does it truly matter if today or tomorrow? Will the information change in twenty four hours?” He asked.

“No sir.” She replied as she stood.

“Then let’s get this over with.” He said as he took her application and turned and went into the office and she followed as she squared her shoulders and then looked around the room and saw there was no personal touches. There were no windows and she looked at the door and saw the same. “Well Mouse what do you see?”

“Nothing.” She replied.

“And that means?” He asked.

“I honestly see nothing. There is nothing in here that shows who you are. I believe this room was once a storage closet. The lack of windows gives that away, the door is the same. No window.” She replied.

“What else do you see?” He asked now amused at this one person.

“You’re a Private person. You don’t take your accomplishments too seriously. You’re not married or at least you wear no ring. You must work out as the sports bag in the corner. Im guessing that with your impatience to complete this interview you never wanted a TA to begin with but the department just got a grant to hire one for every professor and your hand was dealt.” She said.

“Why do you need this job?” He asked with a gleam in his golden eyes.

“To make money.” She replied.

“We all need a job for that. You could easily qualify for assistance obviously why this job?” He asked.

“You’re the only professor left.” She replied. “I meed a job that can work around my schedule here at school.”

“Why?” He asked.

“Because I need to cram two semesters into one.” She replied.

“So you only plan to work for one semester? I thought the job posted was for both?” He asked fully knowing that it was.

“I will work for you as long as I can into the second semester.” She said swallowing hard.

“And the reason for your departure?” He asked.

“Is personal.” She replied.

He stared at her for a moment and then nodded, “Quite right. Some things should remain completely personal. Be here at eight am tomorrow and we will go over your hours and responsibilities.”

“Wait you’re hiring me?” She asked surprised.

He chuckled and the sound filled the room, “Mouse I do believe you will fill the job well.”

“Thank you sir!” She said.

“First rule don’t call me sir.” He said as his eyes snapped back into a hard stare.

“Yes professor.” She said as she stood and placed her hand out.

“Miss Hanson I will see you in the morning”, as he took her hand and shook it and she turned out of the office. She had a shocked smile on her face but she was breathing out easier. Not only did she get a job but she had virtually said she would have to leave the position mid semester as well and he was accepting of that. She nearly bounced out of the building to her car.

This was going to be a new start of her being self reliant. She had a long way to go but this was her new start. She made her way back to the small dingy apartment she had and looked around it had potential for something but for now she sat down on the futon and sighed.

She was up at sunrise and on her way to the building. She squared her shoulders again and took a deep breath and instantly regretted that. She felt like she was going to be sick. She tried to swallow the feeling. It wasn’t going away. She walked up the stairs to the office of the professor who hired her and found him sitting at his desk as she knocked on the door that had been propped open. He was hunched over his desk with a bowl of food that was mushed and mixed together, she tried to swallow the feeling again but couldn’t. She turned and ran to the rest room and threw up. She finished and washed her mouth and tried to clean herself up before she walked out and back to the office.

“Are you alright?” He asked.

“Fine.” She replied.

“Miss Hanson is there anything I need to know?” He asked.

“No.” She replied as she took the seat across from the desk. “Now what exactly will I be required to do?”

“Straight to business. I appreciate that.” He said with a smirk. He began listing everything that she would have to which included helping grade papers, making copies, fetching items for him at times, helping with office hours, and keeping his schedule open. She nodded as he listed everything and he was watching her as she took notes. She knew he was. She knew she should tell him as it would be out soon enough but she wanted to show him she could do this job and finish her course load. For some reason proving herself to one person would make all the difference. He was that one person. She would be the best assistant he ever had, she resigned herself to being that.

She would show the world she was okay with what was thrown at her. She would roll with the punches that life gave her and though she was down and out right now she would rise again. She had so many things to worry about this job didn’t seem to be one of them. She smiled to herself. This was going to be alright as she sighed to herself.

“Mouse are you paying attention?” He asked as it seemed she zoned out for a moment.

“Yes professor.” She replied with a smile.

“Really now? What was the last thing I said?” He asked as he sat back in the chair watching her.

“You said you preferred your coffee black and that certain blend.” She repeated.

“Good. You surprise me mouse.” He said as he leaned forward. “I do believe we shall work well together.”

“Professor my name is Noelle, not mouse.” She said.

“However I will continue to call you Mouse.” He smirked, “it seems to fit you more.”

“Thanks a lot.” She said sarcastically.

“You’re very welcome.” He replied with the nonchalance that only someone who didn’t care what people thought of them. She wondered if she could learn that from him as well. She hadn’t taken his class before so she would have to crash study it as he taught it so she could keep up with the demand of being his assistant. “Now mouse, you look exhausted did you stay out partying last night?”

“I don’t party.” She replied.

“Hot date then?” He asked with his eye brows up.

“I don’t date either.” She said.

“Then what?” He asked.

“My neighbors were fighting all night. The apartment I live in had paper thin walls.” She said as she rubbed her eyes.

“Then you should move.” He said.

“I wish I could.” She said as she nervously laughed slightly, “I barely can afford that one.”

“Then This job should help out with that.” He replied.

“I have other things to buy then a new apartment.” She said and he again looked her over.

“I expect that you will be dedicated to this position Mouse. If I give you work to do I expect it to be done in a timely manner and your personal life to not effect your job here."He said.

"And that means what exactly?” She asked.

“Do not bring your significant others here to distract you.” He said. She started laughing almost to the point she had tears in her eyes.

“That won’t be a problem, Professor.” She said.

“I am not sure I follow.” He said softly.

“I have no ‘significant other’ to worry about and I don’t see that issue arising anytime soon.” She replied.

“Why ever not?” He probed as he looked her over again.

“I just don’t.” Noelle said as she looked back at him. Now was the perfect chance to say the reason why but she couldn’t bring herself to say it. The last time she said the words her parents looked at her with disgust saying she had thrown her life away. She knew life was never going to be easy again but she was determined. For some reason beyond her knowledge she wanted one person to see she could do it and make something for herself. Again it fell to This Professor for that to happen.

As he gave her the list of things he needed before classes started the next week and she set off to get them for him. This was going to be the most difficult thing she had ever done but she was going to do it all.
